NFL Week Eight

At the midpoint of the current NFL season, it is becoming remarkably clear which teams will secure playoff spots, which teams can consider this a rebuilding year and which teams will have to claw their respective ways into gathering a playoff berth. While the New York Jets look like clear playoff contenders despite losing a kicking match against the Green Bay Packers, the Dallas Cowboys are facing the prospect of a potential one-win season. A surprise squad that could garner possible wild-card contention is the Oakland Raiders, who for the second week in a row thrashed their opponent with a devastatingly high score.
NFL week seven round-up

The seventh week in the NFL was one characterized by new regulations meant to crack down on the hard hitting that has left many offensive players on the losing end of helmet-to-helmet collisions. Defences, treading a fine line between highlight making plays and fine inducing tackles, were trampled as they attempted to adapt to the new rules. The notoriously stingy Raven’s defence nearly gave up an upset to the winless Buffalo Bills; the Denver Broncos allowed a record breaking 59 points to the Oakland Raiders; and the former Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints were thrashed at the Super Dome by the hapless Cleveland Browns 30-17.
NFL week five roundup

With week five action in the NFL coming to a close, what is becoming most evident is that this is the first season in recent memory where a dominant team has not separated itself from the rest of the pack, as there are no clear front runners for Super Bowl contenders. And as preseason championship favourites, such as the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings, fall to 1-3, previously disregarded squads like the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are posting winning records and high numbers. Up is down, left is right, and the former Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints were defeated by a Kurt Warner-less Arizona Cardinals 30-20! This season has proven to be astounding week after week, and we are only a month and a half in.
