Here are some phantoms that T.A.P.S. should not try to kick out of your house any time soon. In fact, I recommend welcoming them in.

The Darkness – “Shit Ghost”

“Shit ghost!/rattle my chains” requests the cat suit bedecked singer, Justin Hawkins of The Darkness. “Shit Ghost” does just that, it’s all big solos and sing-a-long choruses. Lots of fun and great to get pumped up to.

The White Stripes – “Little Ghost”

Unabashedly twangy. Jack White makes an oddity on an album of oddities with this tub-thumping bluegrass track. Great image, when dancing with his ghost lover: “It must have looked like I was dancing with the wall.”

Tegan and Sara – “Walking with a Ghost”

Maybe the reason Tegan and Sara became as well-loved as they now are is this fiery song that attempts to banish the ghosts of the past, physical and mental. Oh, and it’s catch as hell.

The National – “Anyone’s Ghost”

From The National’s fantastic High Violet, “Anyone’s Ghost” is a prime example of why the band has found such great success. Poignant, affecting lyrics and excellent sound bring this song into your mind, and leave it there to set up permanent residence.
