Friendship fads

Dear Robin,

Over the years at UFV I’ve accumulated a bunch of Facebook friends that I’ve had throughout various classes. They’re not my friends at all — it was just a bunch of one-semester friendships. When their content pops up in my newsfeed I never know if I should unfriend them or not. What do you think I should do?

Sincerely,

One-time friend

Hello,

I deal with the same dilemma when my aunt’s questionable content pops up on my newsfeed. Here are some questions for you to ponder: Are you going to interact with this person again? (Keep in mind that you probably met this person in a random 100-level arts class.) Are you interested in their life? And do you still want to have attachments to them on social media? (What if they would turn out to be a weird Trump supporter?) If you answered “no” to at least two of those questions I think you know what to do.

DIY hair

Dear Robin,

I really need to save some cash, so I need to cut my hair myself. Any tips for how to achieve a perfect bob cut?

Sincerely,

Great Clips

Hello,

As you can tell from my excellent portrait attached to this publication, I do not sport a bob, but rather a super slick front swoop, so I cannot provide you with personal tips from my bob-cutting experience. But if you’re interested in looking like me, do a little trim at the back of your head — like an average Joe, boy-ish cut — then choose however long you want your front swoop to be. When pulled down, my front swoop goes to my lips. Then the grand finale: backcomb the life out of your front swoop to give it the volume it deserves. Hairspray is never a bad idea here too. Still interested in that bob? There are plenty of tutorials online. My fave is from my girl Jami Swan’s.
