B.C. paves a road to hope with $5,000 toward racism victims

The Government of B.C. aims to fight racism with a new grant. Abbotsford’s Archway Community Services Society was one of 60 community-based organizations in B.C. to receive support from the provincial government — in the form of a lump sum of $5,000 in funding.

Racism is a prominent issue all over the world, including Canada.

“This is a prevalent issue in not just B.C. but the country as a whole, with Statistics Canada reporting in 2024 that 51 per cent of racialized individuals over the age of 15 had suffered some form of discrimination or unfair treatment in Canada.”

The B.C. government allocated a total of $300,000 across the province and verbalized their intentions behind it.

This grant program is part of the province’s ongoing efforts to advance multiculturalism and build a more welcoming and equitable B.C. for all.”

Archway plans to use the $5,000 to support affairs meant for anti-racism enhancement.
