Kayli Sartori joins the 18-woman class accepted to the U Sports Female Apprentice Coach Program
People celebrate International Women’s Day in different ways, but at UFV, news broke that a UFV basketball legend has been admitted to a national program dedicated to developing female coaching talents. Kayli Sartori has been chosen to join a national program by U Sports that develops and supports female coaches. For those who may not have been at UFV to watch Sartori play, her career features multiple medals and accomplishments, none more significant than the 2014 U Sports bronze medal. A myriad of individual awards combined with team success led Sartori to a legitimate professional career, playing basketball in Lebanon, Cyprus, and France for a number of years.
Fans of the Cascades know Sartori as a prominent assistant coach these days, helping Al Tuchscherer steady the ship that is the Cascades women’s basketball team. Sartori has had success as a coach, and getting this apprenticeship under her belt will only open up more opportunities for her in her coaching career.
The move to establish a female apprentice coaching program by U Sports could signal a big shift toward female coaching talent for the conferences, as it guarantees more prospects and could lead to a changing of the guard amongst the coaching lists of the national program. Sartori, already a Cascades assistant coach, could very well be one of UFV’s brightest coaching prospects.
