Julia Tuchscherer, daughter of Al Tuchscherer, joins as the second of the coach’s children to play for UFV

A dynasty is brewing in the Fraser Valley, and the combination of the names “Cascades” and “Tuchscherer” has historically been great for the school’s athletic department. Joining coach Al and Deanna Tuchscherer is Julia Tuchscherer, a standout from G.W. Graham Secondary in Chilliwack.

Julia Tuchscherer graduated a year early from high school; however, she has been playing at the senior level since grade eight. Her career was complete with various championships and medals, making her a top-level local recruit. Her sister, Deanna, is a tall guard with various offensive and defensive skills, but Julia is taller, standing at 6’2. Their size should help the Cascades stay dangerous, as similar height/skill combinations dominate the modern basketball landscapes of the collegiate and pro circuits.

Garnering interest from national programs such as Basketball Canada, Tuchscherer is joining the Cascades as a high prospect for other schools. COVID-19 has changed the situation for athletes and their available time playing for programs, and now with the current projections, it appears that the Tuchscherer family will get four complete years of playing time together. This is not only an exciting prospect for them but also for Cascades fans, who now have their own homegrown dynasty at UFV.
