Time Flies takes us right into the centre of a puddle where two mayflies have just returned from a party. Immediately the tone of the show is clear from the set —a comfortable living room with some natural touches: the coffee table is painted like a lily pad, the TV like a stump and house plants complete the look. The costuming is deliberate and intricate; both actors don formal wear along with their buggy accessories. As well, the physical comedy from both actors left the audience doubled over in the studio with laughter. For a story about two bugs that realize they only have 24 hours to live, Time Flies addresses much bigger issues than bug life span. With a lighthearted, pun-tastic script the show leaves us with carpe diem and two flies (aptly named Horace and May) ready to make the most of the time they have left —a lesson not necessarily only meant for the bugs.

Memorable lines:

“For the common mayfly, foreplay segues right into funeral”

Bug puns. So many bug puns.
