Movie Screening: There’s Something in the Water

March 19 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Join us for a screening of “There’s Something in the Water” where Elliot Page brings attention to the injustices and injuries caused by environmental racism in his home province, in this urgent documentary on Indigenous and African Nova Scotian women fighting to protect their communities, their land, and their futures.

Based on Ingrid R.G. Waldron’s incendiary study, the film follows Page as he travels to rural areas of the province that are plagued by toxic fallout from industrial development. As did Waldron, the filmmakers observe, your postal code determines your health.

The film will be followed by a discussion on environmental racism and the hidden politics of environmental issues, lead by Dr. Keziah Wallis.

This event is hosted in collaboration with the School of Culture, Media and Society and the Office of Sustainability.
