Executive Editors
The Executive Editor (EE) is the Executive Director and chief editor of The Cascade. They provide leadership and encouragement to the staff and contractors of The Cascade. The EE is ultimately responsible for all published material and establishing the editorial tone and direction of The Cascade newspaper. The Creative Director establishes creative continuity between all platforms and media. They work to foster creativity at The Cascade. The Creative Director works in conjunction with the Executive Editor to see that the goals and vision of the organization are met. The Business Manager is in charge of The Cascade's finances and helps run the office. They write cheques for paid staff, maintain financial records, and ensure the budget is being adhered to. The Business Manager also serves as an Advertising Representative and Distributor on behalf of The Cascade.
Sectional Editors
The News Editor is responsible for leading the operations of the News section, which includes ensuring that staff and volunteers have the resources and abilities to produce good news copy. The News Editor presents issues relevant to students, including but not limited to the Student Union Society, campus news, and community coverage. The Arts in Review Editor is responsible for assigning, collecting, and editing the content of the Arts in Review section of The Cascade. The Arts in Review Editor ensures that their section presents content that is relevant to students. The Culture Editor is responsible for assigning, collecting, and editing the content of the Culture section of The Cascade. The Culture Editor ensures that issues relevant to students and the UFV arts community are represented in their section. The Copy editor makes sure that all articles are ready to be published. The Copy Editor makes sure that there are no grammatical errors in any body of text so that all Cascade content is ready for viewership. The Opinion Editor is responsible for assigning, collecting, editing, and laying out the content of the Opinion section. The Opinion Editor ensures that issues relevant to students are presented in their section, and allows for a diversity of opinions to be expressed on a range of topics The sports writer is responsible for researching, analyzing, and reporting on various sports events, trends, and news. This role involves creating engaging and informative content for publications, websites, or broadcasts, while staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the sports world. Staff writers are responsible for researching, writing, and producing news articles for publication. They cover a wide range of topics, conduct interviews, and adhere to journalistic standards to provide accurate, timely, and engaging content for the Cascade's audience Staff writers are responsible for researching, writing, and producing news articles for publication. It also involves supervising the sports writers and ensuring that they have the resources and abilities needed to produce strong content.
Production
The Production Manager is responsible for producing The Cascade and editing final proofs before sending them off to the printer. The Production Manager works with the Editor-in-Chief to make layout decisions, coordinate production staff, and oversee the layout, design, and artistic aspects of the paper including cover and feature design.
Illustrators
The Snapshot Illustrator ensures that all snapshot articles have a corresponding visual representation. They work closely with authors and publishers to ensure their illustrations align with the narrative and effectively convey the intended message.
Media
The Digital Media Manager is responsible for uploading content to The Cascade’s website and managing all social media sites. The Digital Media Manager is also in charge of overseeing any additional media content for the web (videos, photos, etc.). The Digital Design manager designs the frontend components of the website.
Community
The Student Engagement Coordinator is responsible for planning, promoting, and attending student engagement events in collaboration with the Executive Editor, Business Manager, and Managing Editor. The purpose of this role is to increase The Cascade’s reach and awareness within UFV’s student body – to promote readership, contributions, and job opportunities amongst students
