Sports Editor ($275 per issue) to lead, assign, and edit all content for The Cascade’s Sports section. The role involves working with writers, ensuring coverage of UFV and sports community, editing for accuracy and journalistic standards, coordinating images, and contributing one article per issue. Applicants must enrolled in at least one UFV course, have strong editing skills, and be comfortable managing contributors and deadlines.
Varsity Sports Writer ($75 per issue) The Cascade is looking for a Varsity Sports Writer to cover UFV athletics and campus sports. The role involves attending games, interviewing athletes and coaches, and writing engaging, accurate stories for publication. The ideal candidate has strong writing skills, meets deadlines consistently, and is passionate about sports and student life.
Feature & Cover Design – On-Call Opportunity This paid contract role ($100 per issue) involves illustrating, designing and laying out the feature section and cover for select issues, collaborating with the Production Manager, Creative Director, and editors. Ideal candidates are skilled in illustration, Adobe Creative Suite, organized, and available on Mondays and Tuesdays. Interested illustrators can apply.
