Letter to the Editor: Sodexo not a ‘soulless multinational’

Hello Jack:

In the recent edition of The Cascade you refer to Sodexo as one of the ‘soulless multinationals’ in your take on burgers.

Sodexo – just some of things we did this past year:

  • Sodexo provided over 20,000 meals to children in need in the city of Vancouver this past summer through our STOP HUNGER imitative.
  • Sodexo provided over 2.5 million meals this past summer to children at risk of hunger in major cities across North America.
  • Sodexo provided free meals to the Chilean miners and their families during the harrowing two-month rescue mission in 2010.
  • Sodexo raised funds through their charitable foundation to fund local projects for the hungry – most notably the recent cash donation from Sodexo UFV to the Abbotsford food bank and a cash donation made to the victims of the recent Japan earthquake from Sodexo UFV.
  • Sodexo provides a bursary for UFV students annually because we believe in giving back to the institution and the community.
  • Sodexo provides an annual meal free of charge for residents of Baker House as a welcome back gesture.
  • Sodexo provided free in-service culinary sessions on techniques and healthy eating for employees and students at UFV.
  • Sodexo has launched ‘The Better Tomorrow Plan’, because it believes in working to leave a better and more sustainable world for future generations.

Hardly a soulless multinational, would you not agree? You know Jack, you can do your own research and I would recommend that you Google the Sodexo Foundation so that you can be informed. All companies, large and small are just made up of people like you and me earning a living.  Every day over 400,000 Sodexo employees go to work to provide services for our clients and customers worldwide, and we do it with both a sense of service, and pride.
