Brad van Haastregt hosts Haters Gonna Hate every Tuesday from 11-1 p.m. He has trouble writing about himself in the third person.

The Shins – “Simple Song”

The newest single, off The Shins newest album Port of Morrow, “Simple Song”  is anything but a simple song. The first new album to be released under their new label some thought that Port of Morrow wouldn’t be as good, but “Simple Song” shows right out of the gate that The Shins still got it. Port of Morrow hits the shelf March 2012.

Bon Iver – “Skinny Love”

What do you do when ending a relationship? Maybe stick your head in ice cream buckets or go on alcoholic binges. Not Justin Vernon. He locks himself in a Wisconsin backwoods cabin writing music. From acclaimed album For Emma Forever Ago, “Skinny Love” is a must for breakup playlists everywhere.

Hey Ocean – “Big Blue Wave”

If you didn’t already know Ashleigh Ball, lead singer of Hey Ocean is the vocal talent behind the characters of Rainbow Dash and Applejacks on My Little Pony. In other more relevant news Hey Ocean latest single is for sure worth a listen before judgment is passed.

Said the Whale – “Heavy Ceiling”

When I first heard this song I thought that Said the Whale was releasing their tune “Last Night” on their new album Little Mountain, but it turns out that “Heavy Ceiling” is nothing more than “Last Night” retooled and a few vocals added. Don’t get me wrong I still love Said the Whale it just stings a little to find that out.
