Soups and sandwiches, muffins and squares, Mystic Mug packs a punch with ample beverage options, platters, lunches, all day breakfasts, sides, and even alcoholic options for evenings out. The prices are more than reasonable, especially for a starving student, and their whereabouts offers even more.

Located just off the Mt. Lehman exit and across from the Auto Mall, this eatery is only two exits west of UFV, which is the perfect distance for a little lunch time jaunt between classes. Not only is their food simply scrumptious, but the store itself offers plenty of seating, including several couch niches and tables along all of the windows. Anything along the outer rim of the restaurant offers access to an outlet for all those laptop fiends and wi-fi makes it even easier to pretend to study while on Facebook, enjoying a tasty cappuccino or two. In the summer, customers can enjoy the setting sun on their large front patio, and in the winter, they can cozy up beside the fireplace blazing inside.

For only thirteen dollars, my lunch included their special of a BLT, potato salad, and delicious Red Thai Chicken soup, as well as a medium London Fog. The soup was thick and creamy with just the right amount of spice to keep me awake while studying. The sandwich, with its homemade, unprocessed ingredients, was simple, but just what the doctor ordered. If anyone is in the mood for satisfying their sweet tooth, the many goodies lined up in their cooler could do the trick, right alongside their healthier salad options.

If the location and hits-the-spot meals aren’t enough, the service is what will really push this place over the top. The ladies who work at this little coffee shop make every customer feel like one in a million. They’re ready and waiting with a smile, a suggestion, or a conversation, but they’re just as likely to be aware of which customers want to be chatted up, and which need to be left alone with their books.

With options ranging from a couple of bucks for a muffin to under ten for a sandwich or wrap, Mystic Mug will not break the bank and will allow for a few moments of peace and quiet in between the madness that is student life. They’re open 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays and they’re closed on Sundays.

It’s easy to get sick of the chain coffee shops that push all too expected options at unfathomable prices, so head west on Highway 1 and check out what Mystic Mug has to offer.
