The campus restaurant, run by the Student Union Society (SUS), was closed for the summer because of expected reduced sales, but was originally intended to reopen in the Fall.
The Canoe has been difficult to float since its opening in 2015, running a deficit of about $100,000 every year.
In a press release, SUS president Gurvir Gill said this closure would not end food services offered in the SUB, and that they are negotiating to bring in franchised food services to the building.
The Canoe opened in October 2015.
In September 2016, the Canoe saw changes that brought the cafeteria style of service to reduce operation costs.
It closed for summer in April 2018.
