Hey! Cam The Man back with another CIVL Shuffle. Over the past two years of The Cam the Man Show, nine artists I’ve played have climbed to number one on the CIVL Top 30, and 19 more have charted on the list without hitting the top spot. Here are a few more independent artists to check out.
Dani Black – “House”
Dani is a B.C. artist I first discovered in 2024 during a performance in the SUS building, and she went on to become my very first guest on the show back on Apr. 9, 2024. Since then, she’s released her debut EP Against my Better Judgement (2026), which includes the track “House” — a song centred on emotional vulnerability. Dani entered the CIVL Top 30 on Apr. 14, 2026, and as of Apr. 21, 2026, she sits at number one on the chart.
Nicky MacKenzie – “Grown”
Up-and-coming B.C. pop artist Nicky Mackenzie debuted on The Cam the Man Show in August 2025 with her song “I Should Go.” This year she’s back with “Grown,” a track that reflects on the transition from adolescence into adulthood, touching on themes of heartbreak and self-reliance.
Melxdie – “BOY I KNEW”
Toronto alternative rock/pop-punk artist, Melxdie, recently released the FAILED ROCKSTAR (2026) EP. The track I’ve chosen is “BOY I KNEW” because it’s a song about heartbreak and personal turmoil, also described as a messy, raw, honest song. Melxdie is definitely an artist to look out for.
Catie St. Germain – “Salt in the Wound”
Catie is a rising country artist from Winnipeg who performed the National Anthem at the CFL’s 2025 Grey Cup. “Salt in the Wound” is the track I chose because it’s a dance?ready breakup song that focuses on the painful aftermath of a relationship. She joined me on The Cam The Man Show on Feb. 10, 2026, and she’s definitely another artist to keep on your radar.
