Dylan Kinley joins the Cascades after a season where his team ranked number one in the nation

The men’s basketball program at UFV has made some noticeable changes over the past year, but none more striking than its player height. The roster has gotten noticeably taller, with multiple players standing near seven feet tall. Their latest addition is also tall for his position on the court, but his stats and his game seem to have gotten him the job as a member of the stacked Cascades guard roster.

Dylan Kinley, a combo guard from Douglas College, joins the Cascades as a third-year player. Standing at 6’3, his height will help the Cascades stay tall, as other guards, such as fourth-year player Jordyn Sekhon, stand at 6’5. Kinley is a scoring option that can also run plays, and his statistics would suggest he could lead the team in a few categories. During his 2019-20 season with Douglas, he shot 51.7 per cent from the field and a ridiculous 49.4 per cent from three-point range. Coach Joe Enevoldson should have no problem figuring out how to use Kinley, since he has previously coached him at Douglas.

The Cascades await a decision by the provincial government on Feb. 5 that could determine whether they play in the first half of 2021 or not. Until then, practices are limited and play is suspended. Cascades fans will have to wait to see Kinley light up the scoreboard, but hopefully the Cascades get back soon and fans can attend their next conference season.
