Veggie tales

Dear Robin,

I really, really need to be eating more vegetables. But let’s be real here: they’re disgusting. Even dipped in hummus I can’t stomach them. Do you have any ideas on how I can eat veggies without feeling like I’m eating veggies?

Sincerely,

Vehemently anti-veggie

Hello,

It’s important to eat a well-balanced diet, which is why you should always reward yourself after eating veggies. For every baby carrot you eat, go eat a gummy bear; for every broccoli floret you keep down, grab a Dorito. And with the help of Double Stuf Oreos, you’ll achieve your veggie-eating goals in no time!

Gratuity griefs

Dear Robin,

I know to tip at least 15 per cent at restaurants, but what about when I get my hair cut or nails done, or even my Uber driver? Or even the cashier at Freshii? (They have a tip jar there!)

Sincerely,

Tripped by tips

Hello,

According to Cosmo, you should tip your hairdresser at least 20 per cent because they’re also your therapist/BFF while in their chair. Teen Vogue wrote a super interesting article about nail salons and explained the rough working conditions (and pay) many nail technicians experience. With that in mind, tip 20 per cent to your nail technician as well, and do your best to give it in cash directly to your technician. Teen Vogue also has some more incredibly helpful tips for tipping. When you pay for your salad at Freshii, toss a few coins in the tip jar, but don’t stress over it. And when in a situation where you have zero idea how much to tip, go with 20 per cent if the person was not a massive jerk to you. Another thing to keep in mind: service workers have difficult days too, so they may not always be exuding sunshine and smiles every time you see them. If that’s not a regular occurance, don’t let it affect your tipping.
