Dubbed the “Student Experiential Learning and Wellness fee,” the additional cost would add on two per cent of all tuition students pay — for a student on-track to complete their degree in four years (30 credits per year), this would mean an addition $83.70.

Budget planning documents show UFV administrators are looking to introduce a new fee that would come into effect for the next academic year. Dubbed the “Student Experiential Learning and Wellness fee,” the additional cost would add on two per cent of all tuition students pay — for a student on-track to complete their degree in four years (30 credits per year), this would mean an addition $83.70. The document describes the use of this fund, which is estimated at a total of $540,000, as for “the development and support of experiential and co-curricular learning opportunities, health and well-being services and programming, and expanded peer mentoring and peer tutoring opportunities.” Questions about the budget will be open to students at two consolidated budget forums to be held Monday next week, 9:30 a.m. in Chilliwack (A2428), 3:00 p.m. in Abbotsford (A225).
