I’ll be the first to admit I’m a scrawny asthmatic who’s always preferred reading a book to any kind of physical activity. One thing I don’t get though is why so many people fall victim to the craze of watching competitive sports. Even if I’m far from being a ball- or racket-wielding goddess, I’d rather play a sport myself than get heavily invested in a match I have no control over. Isn’t that just a recipe for high blood pressure? I even felt this way about esports when I was heavily into League of Legends (which I now drink wine to forget that I played). Maybe when I get older and have more physical restrictions I’ll understand the appeal of screaming my lungs out in a stadium and wearing my favourite team’s colours for luck. In the meantime though, I’ll stick with my books, the occasional game of badminton, and an inner sense of peace.
