Getaway

Dear Robin,

I need a vacation. But we can’t go anywhere right now, so I need to figure out how to do a stay-cation. Any ideas that don’t involve going to The Reach Gallery Museum?

Sincerely,

Vacation vetter

Hello,

I’m getting the sense that you’re not a supporter/fan of local art, and that really worries me. Not only is going to The Reach an excellent way to bring culture into your Kardashian-sized brain, but it’s 100 per cent free. There’s literally no negative outcome of visiting the museum, other than realizing you want to go there more often and won’t have enough time for your homework. So, how about we put aside your stay-cation plans and think about why you don’t want to go to The Reach and why you think your time is better spent creating a DIY facemask than supporting positive community initiatives.

Injection site

Dear Robin,

Due to my work, I’m able to get my COVID-19 vaccination next week. What should I expect after I’m injected?

Sincerely,

Pro vaxxer

Hello,

How about I start off with telling you what not to expect after you’re injected? Upper-middle-class, Lululemon-wearing moms who don’t believe in science hanging out at the vaccination area. A near future without face masks. Instant bursts of health shooting through your body. Being able to take a cookie afterward like when you give blood. A personal phone call from Prime Minister Trudeau congratulating you on getting vaccinated. But here’s what you should expect: waiting around for a bit afterward to ensure you don’t have a wild reaction. Plenty of smiles from the site workers, but they have face masks on so you won’t really see them. A delightful feeling of pleasure as you make the world a better place. And maybe a little wooziness the day after.

Robin
